Honeywell Building Solutions makes Rampton Hospital safer and more secure for staff and patients
HONEYWELL BUILDING SOLUTIONS MAKES RAMPTON HOSPITAL SAFER AND MORE SECURE FOR STAFF AND PATIENTS
Honeywell Building Solutions is installing a sophisticated CCTV system in sixteen wards at the high-security Rampton Hospital in Nottinghamshire.
BRACKNELL, England, July 18th, 2006 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced its Building Solutions business (HBS) is installing a security system that will better protect patients and staff at the high-security Rampton Hospital. The system, part of a refurbishment project at the Hospital, managed by Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, gives Rampton Hospital staff greater observation, provides flexibility and offers comprehensive and precise coverage of selected areas.
The project came about through modernisation plans and improvements at Rampton Hospital. Plans required that certain areas were to be monitored 24 hours a day as a way of improving internal security.
Once the project is complete, parts of the hospital will be fitted with a security system that includes 15 Honeywell CCTV security ranging cameras in each ward, each linked to a Honeywell digital video control system. Cameras provide coverage in communal areas.
The use of CCTV is a cost-effective, flexible solution that can be upgraded easily at a later stage and produces high quality images in real time. The HBS system, which includes all related wiring and containment, is being installed into 16 of the Hospital’s wards and associated facilities.
Based upon using field-based recording it is hoped to operate this system across a network in the future. Use of this system is operated according to the Trust’s CCTV policy which is in accordance with relevant legislation. Information from the system has begun to be used to investigate incidents in accordance with the policy.
The high resolution images can be recorded at a high IPS (images/s) count and are compressed to maximise usage of the CCTV system’s storage space. All recorded information is easily exportable in multiple, tamper-proof formats that can be viewed easily by authorised parties.
Julie Hall, Rampton Hospital’s Head of Performance says: “Several months into project, the security system has so far been installed into ten of the sixteen wards. We have worked with the company throughout this modernization and we are working towards meeting our expectations. Honeywell Building Solutions has worked in partnership with us. We are pleased with the developments which have been made. Use of real time and recorded images means
that incidents can be easily investigated with a source of media that we did not previously have access to”
The project is due for completion by the end of 2007.
